NOTE: This document is only for users whose computer is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. If your computer is running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you connect your device using Windows Device Center. If so please refer to the other Connect Your Device document.

  1. Download Active Sync from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9e641c34-6f7f-404d-a04b-dc09f8141141&displayLang=en

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
  3. Plug device into computer using cable(s), docks, etc, that came with your device.

  4. Device software should install itself, please wait a few minutes.
  5. After a few minutes Active Sync will pop up on your screen saying it is connecting or that it has connected. You may be asked to set-up your device, this step is optional but it is recommended that you skip this step since it is not necessary. If nothing happens please go to start, then programs and look for Active Sync and open it. Then skip to step 9.

  6. When the Active Sync window says connected it means that your device and computer are connected. Now, while the device is plugged in, press Start on the device, then programs, find internet explorer and tap it.
  7. Clear the address bar at the top and type in cnn.com or any website that you wish. This is just to test if the device is connecting to the internet.

  8. If the website loads then your device has internet connectivity and you can install field id mobile and begin to use your device. If not please continue with the remaining steps.
  9. Go to the Active Sync window on your computer and click File in the top left corner and then press connection settings. Make sure all the boxes except the last one are checked and press OK. Next unplug the device or remove it from its cradle and then plug it back in. After you have done this go back to step 5.
